Sports Chiropractic @ APH

Dr. Todd uses various manual treatment techniques to treat his patients.  Unlike most chiropractors who are quick to manipulate, our chiropractor’s initial course of treatment is to use IASTM, Soft Tissue/Active Release Technique, and Traction to address dysfunction that is causing pain or limitation.

Dr. Todd then carefully assesses the joints and uses Chiropractic manipulation only in cases where there is a true joint restriction and manipulation is apporiate.  Chiropractic Manipulation or Adjustment refers to a chiropractor applying a thrust to the vertebrae or extremity where mobility is restricted.  Our Chiropractor ensures success of the manipulation by preparing the soft tissue around the restriction.

For long term success of a manipulation, post-manipulation muscle re-education and corrective exercise are key.  Once new mobility is gained in the spine or extremity it is imperative that the muscles around it are exercised so that the area learns to stabilize this newly gained mobility.

Movement Analysis

At APH we use many different techniques to assess our patients movement patterns. This is critical to finding the root of the problem. The Functional Movement Screen (FMS) and Selective Functional Movement Assessment (SFMA) take clients through several movement patterns looking for movement dysfunctions and asymmetries.

The SFMA is a physical screen used on those with active musculoskeletal pain.  It consists of 7 functional movements which when performed by the patient, help direct the clinician to contributing impairments which may seem unrelated to the main musculoskeletal complaint.

The FMS is a physical screen which is used on those who are not having active musculoskeletal pain.  It is a grading system that documents movement patterns which are key to normal function.  The FMS identifies functional limitations and asymmetries which will limit the effects of training and physical conditioning.

Movement dysfunctions and asymmetries can result in pain, injury or limited performance.  Both of these movement screens allow us to objectively identify asymmetries and functional limitations that may be contributing to pain and/or limited performance.

Active Release

Active Release Technique (ART) is a patented, state of the art soft tissue system/movement based massage technique that treats problems with muscles, tendons, ligaments, fascia and nerves. Headaches, back pain, carpal tunnel syndrome, shin splints, shoulder pain, sciatica, plantar fasciitis, knee problems, and tennis elbow are just a few of the many conditions that can be resolved quickly and permanently with ART. These conditions all have one important thing in common: they are often a result of overused muscles.

Every ART session is actually a combination of examination and treatment. The ART provider uses his or her hands to evaluate the texture, tightness and movement of muscles, fascia, tendons, ligaments and nerves. Abnormal tissues are treated by combining precisely directed tension with very specific patient movements. These treatment protocols – over 500 specific moves – are unique to ART. They allow the chiropractor to identify and correct the specific problems that are affecting each individual patient. ART is not a cookie-cutter approach.

Graston Technique®

The Graston Technique®, originally developed by athletes, is an innovative, patented form of instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization that enables clinicians to effectively break down scar tissue and fascial restrictions. The technique utilizes specially designed stainless steel instruments to specifically detect and effectively treat areas exhibiting soft tissue fibrosis or chronic inflammation.

Six stainless steel instruments form the cornerstone of Graston Technique®

The curvilinear edge of the patented Graston Technique® Instruments combines with their concave/convex shapes to mold the instruments to various contours of the body. This design allows for ease of treatment, minimal stress to the clinician’s hands and maximum tissue penetration.

Therapeutic Exercises

At All-Pro Health we focus on one-on-one personal care! We know the pain will make the body compensate in many ways. Therefore our we take a meticulous approach to exercise. By carefully monitoring you while you exercise we avoid allowing you to correct a dysfunctional painful pattern on your own. Our rehabilitation plans are tailored to your needs, FUNCTIONAL, PRECISE & SIMPLE to follow. At Allprohealth we give you the building blocks for strength movement and maintenance of your musculoskeletal system. Our Base 7 exercises, Postural Training and the APH Special Sauces give you the tools for success in life and any activity you chose to pursue.

Gait Analysis

Gait Analysis is the study of human locomotion, using the eye and the brain of observers, augmented by instrumentation for measuring body movements, body mechanics, and the activity of the muscles.

All-Pro Health uses Gait Analysis to assess, plan, and treat individuals with conditions affecting their ability to walk or run. The analysis is used to evaluate any asymmetries when walking and running, help athletes run more efficiently and to identify posture-related or movement-related problems in people with injuries.

Neurokinetic Therapy

Neurokinetic Therapy (NKT) is an assessment and treatment tool that uses muscles testing to identify compensatory strategies and dysfunctional movement patterns. Pain or injury can cause the body to change the way it moves to protect the affected area.  This new dysfunctional movement pattern is stored in the brain in the motor control center in the cerebellum.    Dysfunctional movement patterns can lead to movement asymmetries or increased stress on different areas of the body causing pain and functional limitation.  NKT helps us to find the root cause of these dysfunctional movements and allows us restore symmetry and homeostasis to the body, eliminating pain, improving exercise effectiveness and maximizing movement efficiency.
